Kaoma-Mufumbwe Development

The prospecting licence number 30224-HQ-LEL occupies an area of 4,167.5125 ha. The site lies about 54 kilometers from Mufumbwe town centre in Kaoma District. The coordinates of the central location of the Prospecting licence are 14°8’15″S and 24°42’45″E. Located in the North-Western Province the region hosts the major Sentinel copper project (First Quantum) as well as Lumwana (Barrick Gold), Kansamchi (First Quantum), and closer to the concession the Kalumbila Mine.

Regionally the area of interest falls within rocks of the Katanga supergroup. These rocks include sedimentary rocks such as siltstones, sandstones shales and mixtites. Generally, the Katanga supergroup is well known for hosting minerals such as copper-gold oxides and sulphides. The topographic expression of Mufumbwe area is generally flat with low altitude regions along rivers and streams.

Preliminary studies have commenced on geological, geophysical and geochemical analysis and indicate that within the license area falls a copper mineralization zone with high values.
